LIGHT WINDS ON DAY ONE
Sunny day and lights winds on day one at the 48th Edition Godó Vela. The first starts were scheduled at 14.30 hours but the Race Committee had to postpone the start due to the lack of wind
Day one at the 48 Trofeo de vela Conde de Godó started by a light Breeze. The first races scheduled at 14.30h had to be postponed but finally the start was given at 15:24h for ORC 0-1-2 with South winds, 7 to 8 knots. The start for the 13 boats entered in ORC 3-4 was given some minutes later.
The first race for ORC 0-1-2 saw a battle between Jaime Samón Viñas’s Miaja X from CN El Masnou and Pep Soldevila’s Es Tes Unno from RCNB. Race 2 was won by Toni Guiu’s Bluecarbon from RCNB that takes the lead over Miaja X and is in a tie with the winner of 11 editions of the Trofeo Godó Vela, Rafael Carbonell’s Rats on Fire from CN Arenys de Mar with Jorge Martínez Doreste at the helm. Rats on fire finished third in both races and is third overall.
After the first day, the regatta results are open due to the grouping of ORC fleet 0, 1 and 2, with no clear favourite and top places in the overall standings very close. The wind conditions for the coming days will be a decisive factor.
In ORC 3-4, the leader is Nicolás González’s Dufour 40 Lady Mariline with a first and second place. Second place overall is for the winner of the past edition, Alexandra Laplaza’s L’Immens with Carlos Rodríguez at the helm. L’Immens started well with a win but finished fourth in the second race and is tied with Gaitero Dos from Club Náutico Ibiza with Iván Moreno at the helm, both with 5 points in the overall standings.
Following the first two races, the first four classified boats are favourite to claim the title.
In the one design fleet, the first race of the day started at 15.30 horas, with a South wind, 6-7 knots. On this first day, Nautia.net – Slow Charter & Racing (RCNB) won two races and leads the standings together with J70 Noticia owned by Luis Martín Cabiedes (RCNB) tied with 8 points. Third place is for Ricardo Terrades’s Autolica-Kahaway-Tropicfeel with 10 points.
The start on Saturday is scheduled at 12.00 horas, with3 races for ORC and 4 for One design. South winds, increasing in the afternoon, are forecasted for Saturday.
Organised by Reial Club Nàutic de Barcelona with the collaboration of Real Federación Española de Vela and the Federació Catalana de Vela, the 48 Trofeo de vela Conde Godó has the support of La Vanguardia, Ajuntament de Barcelona and Generalitat de Catalunya.
