The show arrives at the Real Club Nautico de Barcelona

The best sailors will meet in the waters of Barcelona from 23 to 27 May. The 39th Trofeo Conde de Godó, will be a high-level event for participants and an attractive spectacle for the locals.

The program brings together the best ingredients: from the great and spectacular  maxis and mini-maxis , with the elegant Wally boats as outstanding examples of the finest naval architecture, to the Formula 1 of the sea, the TP52 and Soto 40 boats that competed last season in the MedCup and, with the suspension of this competition, have had to reorganize its racing programs. Joining them also is the  international celebration of sail boats of the the best cruise fleet to compete under ORC compensation system, allowing them the registration of boats and crews from other countries to be put head to head with the Spaniards. And finally, there will also be racing of Class monotype J8, which has gained popularity in recent years thanks to the lure of competing in real time with equally-sized small sailboats.

In total is expected to be around 100 boats on the water with more than 1,100crew members on board. The RCNB, which has carefully prepared the competition to promote the image of a trophy that was born in 1974 and is one of the oldest of the Spanish sailing calendar, works in the organization of four race courses off the coast of the city. The tests will have recognized judges and race committees.

Among the yachts present,   the highlight without a doubt is the Wally Esense, a luxury yacht with clean lines that measures 43 meters in length. And among the crew, included are many of the biggest names in world sailing, as Ed Baird, winner of the America's Cup, Basque Vascotto, Francesco Bruni and Gavin Brady , together with the Spaniards José Maria Bent, at the helm of Soto 40 Iberdrola, Luis Doreste, JoséMaría van der Ploeg and many more.

The sports program is complemented by various social activities, both in the village to be installed on the dock of the club and the city. The RCNB received the full support of institutions, led by the City Council and the Generalitat, to turn the event into an example that can maintain the momentum and dynamism of Barcelona despite current difficulties.

In this sense, the Barcelona Tourist Board, for example, comes in full cooperation as they arrange for tours so that the escorts of the groups during the competition may know the Modernist route and other cultural attractions of the Catalan capital. The economic dimension in the city that will be generated during these intense days of racing is not negligible, since  hotel accommodation alone  is estimated to be in the order of 600. Moreover, the image of the city will benefit again from the organization of a major sporting event that will have wide media coverage. Many companies along with Godó Group, supports the RCNB so that the organization of the sailing championship a success.
