Barcelona, May 5, 2026 — The Real Club Náutico de Barcelona (RCNB) has presented, at a midday event held at its facilities, the 53rd Trofeo de Vela Conde de Godó OOA. The regatta will take place from May 15 to 31 in the waters of Barcelona, consolidating its position as one of the most prestigious offshore racing events on the Mediterranean calendar.

The 2026 edition introduces a new format structured around three consecutive weekends, designed to optimize participation and tailor the competition to the specific characteristics of each class.

With registration closing on May 28, the RCNB anticipates more than 100 entries, as well as approximately 800 sailors from 14 nationalities, underscoring the event's strong international character.

The institutional presentation was attended by Jordi Puig, President of the RCNB; Juan de Ros, CEO of Oxford Oil Additives (OOA); Joan Balaguer, Vice-President of the Federació Catalana de Vela; Ana Godó, Vice-President of the RCNB and representative of the Godó family; Pablo Garriga, Commodore of the RCNB and Race Director; and Sergio González, Second Naval Commander of Barcelona.

In his address, RCNB President Jordi Puig stated: "This edition marks a step forward in the evolution of the Trofeo Conde de Godó. Organizing the event in three competition blocks allows us to improve sporting quality, optimize logistics, and offer a more competitive environment for each fleet."

The sporting programme is structured in three distinct phases. The first block, from May 15 to 17, will be dedicated to the J70 class. The second, from May 22 to 24, will host the BCN Race Musto Offshore Godó OOA for ORC offshore boats in doublehanded and threehanded formats. Finally, from May 28 to 31, races will be held for the ORC, ORC Doublehanded, and ORC Open classes, with both windward-leeward and coastal courses.

Regarding the main sponsorship, Jordi Puig commented: "The incorporation of Oxford Oil Additives strengthens the event's international projection. It is a company with a clear commitment to efficiency and sustainability — values we fully share at the club."

On the environmental front, the RCNB highlighted that this edition will carry the BGSS sustainable certification from Bgreenly, obtained following an audit process of both the event and the club itself, in collaboration with the Fundació Barcelona Capital Nàutica.

"This recognition is part of a strategic project aimed at developing a guide to sustainable regattas applicable at an international level. At the RCNB, we are committed to improving and consolidating this model in future editions," added Puig.

Puig concluded his address by thanking institutional and private supporters: "I want to thank all the sponsors, especially OOA for their trust as official sponsor, the Godó family, and all the collaborators who make this regatta possible."

RCNB Commodore and Race Director Pablo Garriga outlined the technical details of the sporting programme. For the J70 class, around 20 boats from 10 countries are expected, with a total of 12 races scheduled. This competition will also serve as a warm-up event for the J70 European Championship, which the club will host in July.

Regarding the BCN Race Musto Offshore Godó OOA, Garriga explained that approximately 20 boats are expected to take part, tackling courses ranging from 66 to 180 miles along the Catalan coast or towards the Balearic Islands, depending on weather conditions, with full crew, doublehanded and threehanded configurations.

As for the final block, focused on the ORC and ORC Open classes, the Race Director noted that "there are currently around 40 boats registered, and we expect to reach 75 by the entry deadline." The ORC fleet will compete in windward-leeward races, while the ORC Open class will sail coastal courses on a separate race course.

Juan de Ros, CEO of Oxford Oil Additives, said: "Our company is very proud to be part of this historic regatta and to share our passion for the sea."

Joan Balaguer, Vice-President of the Federació Catalana de Vela, remarked: "We thank the RCNB and its sponsors for their commitment to this iconic regatta of Barcelona and the Mediterranean, which offers the opportunity to compete for both professional and amateur sailors."

Founded in 1974 and supported from the outset by the Godó family, the Trofeo Conde de Godó is Spain's longest-running uninterrupted offshore regatta, cementing its status as a landmark in national sailing history and sport.
