Barcelona, May 5, 2026 — The Royal Barcelona Yacht Club (RCNB) presented the 53rd Conde de Godó OOA Sailing Trophy this Tuesday at noon at its facilities. The regatta will be held from May 15 to 31 in Barcelona waters , further solidifying its position as one of the most prominent cruising regattas on the Mediterranean calendar. The 2026 edition introduces a new format structured over three consecutive weekends, optimizing participation and adapting the competition to the specific characteristics of each class. With registration closing on May 28, the RCNB anticipates over 100 boats and nearly 800 sailors from 14 countries, reinforcing the international character of the event. The official presentation was attended by Jordi Puig, President of the RCNB; Juan de Ros , CEO of Oxford Oil Additives (OOA); Joan Balaguer , vice president of the Catalan Sailing Federation; Ana Godó , vice president of the RCNB and representative of the Godó family; Pablo Garriga , commodore of the RCNB and regatta director; and Sergio González , second naval commander of Barcelona. During his speech, the president of the RCNB, Jordi Puig , highlighted: “This edition represents a step forward in the evolution of the Conde de Godó Trophy. Organizing it into three competition blocks allows us to improve the sporting quality, optimize logistics, and offer a more competitive environment for each fleet.” |

The sporting program is structured in three distinct phases. The first block, from May 15th to 17th , will be dedicated to the J70 class. The second, from May 22nd to 24th , will host the BCN Race Musto Offshore Godó OOA for ORC cruisers in its crewed, two-person, and three-person categories. Finally, from May 28th to 31st, the races for the ORC, ORC Two-person, and ORC Open classes will take place, with both windward and leeward courses. Regarding the main sponsor, the president of the RCNB stated: “The addition of Oxford Oil Additives strengthens the international reach of the event. This is a company with a clear commitment to efficiency and sustainability, values that we fully share at the club.” In the environmental sphere, the RCNB highlighted that this edition will have the BGSS sustainable certification from Bgreenly, obtained after an audit process of the event and the club itself, in collaboration with the Fundació Barcelona Capital Nàutica. “This recognition is part of a strategic project that aims to develop a sustainable regatta guide applicable internationally. At the RCNB, we are working to improve and consolidate this model in future editions,” added Puig. Puig concluded his remarks by thanking the institutional and private sponsors: “I want to thank all the sponsors, especially OOA for their confidence as official sponsor, the Godó family, and all the collaborators who make this regatta possible.” |

For his part, the RCNB Commodore and Regatta Director, Pablo Garriga , detailed the technical aspects of the sporting program. In the case of the J70 class , the participation of approximately 20 boats from 10 countries is expected, with a total of 12 races scheduled. This competition will also serve as a prelude to the J70 European Championship, which the club will host next July. Regarding the BCN Race Musto Offshore Godó OOA , Garriga explained that the participation of around 20 boats is expected. These boats will tackle courses of between 66 and 180 miles along the Catalan coast or towards the Balearic Islands, defined according to weather conditions and divided between full crew and two- and three-person crew categories. Regarding the final block, dedicated to the ORC and ORC Open classes , the race director noted that “there are currently around 40 boats registered, and we expect to reach 75 by the registration deadline.” The ORC fleet will compete in windward-leeward races, while the ORC Open class will sail coastal courses in a separate racecourse. Juan de Ros, CEO of Oxford Oil Additives, stated: “Our company is very proud to be part of this historic regatta and to share our passion for the sea.” Joan Balaguer, vice president of the Catalan Sailing Federation, added: “We thank the RCNB and the sponsors for their involvement in this emblematic regatta of Barcelona and the Mediterranean, which also provides an opportunity for both professional and amateur sailors to participate.” |

Created in 1974 and supported from its inception by the Godó family, the Conde de Godó Trophy is Spain's longest-running cruiser regatta, reinforcing its role as a historical and sporting benchmark in Spanish sailing. The 53rd Conde de Godó OOA Sailing Trophy is organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, on behalf of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, and with the collaboration of the Catalan Sailing Federation. It is primarily sponsored by Oxford Oil Additives and supported by La Vanguardia, the Barcelona City Council, and the Government of Catalonia.
