Soler Cabot-Cornex Capital (ORC 1), Katara (ORC 2), Milkwave (ORC 3), Blue Star V (ORC 4-5), Wild (ORC A2), Blue (Open A) and Odysseus (Open B) are the other champions

Barcelona, 31/05/2026.- The 53rd Trofeo Conde de Godó OOA crowned its champions in an edition marked by a new competition format divided into three consecutive weekends. The regatta began with the J70 one-design fleet, continued with the BCN Race Musto Offshore, and concluded with the traditional weekend dedicated to the ORC classes and the prize-giving ceremony held at the Village of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona.

This Sunday saw the conclusion of the competition with the crowning of the champions in the different categories: Hispania (ORC 0), Soler Cabot-Cornex Capital (ORC 1), Katara (ORC 2), Milkwave (ORC 3), Blue Star V (ORC 4-5), Wild (ORC A2), Blue (Open A) and Odysseus (Open B).

Hispania, skippered by Ricardo Álvarez-Maldonado, made its debut in the Trofeo Conde de Godó OOA with victory in the ORC 0 class. The yacht of the Spanish Navy’s Comisión Naval de Regatas began this new chapter on a high note after an intense duel with Tomás Gasset’s Vithas-Urbania, which had led the standings during the first two days of competition. Both teams finished tied on points, but the discard system and Hispania’s victory in the final race awarded the overall title to the Navy yacht. Toni Guiu’s Aproperties-Blue Carbon completed the podium.

Ricardo Álvarez-Maldonado, skipper of the Hispania: “We arrived in Barcelona full of enthusiasm to see how the new boat performed, and we leave very satisfied with our performance,” and added that “the Navy has always considered the Conde de Godó Trophy a benchmark and we are delighted to have debuted the boat here; moreover, the Royal Yacht Club of Barcelona always welcomes us with open arms.”

Another top-level battle took place in ORC 1 between the fleet’s two benchmark DK46 yachts. Soler Cabot-Cornex Capital, skippered by Luis Martínez Doreste, ultimately prevailed over Hydra-HM Hospitales, helmed by José Ponce. Rolf auf der Maur’s yacht won the final race and, although it finished tied on points with Óscar Chaves’ team, successfully retained the title thanks to the tie-break.

Toni Rivas, tactician of Soler Cabot-Cornex Capital: “It has been a very complicated Godó because our boat suffers a lot in light winds, and even more so having such a tough rival as Hydra in front of us, with whom we have been fighting until the last race.”

The ORC 2 World Champion, Argentina’s Katara, owned by Julián Somodi, was the only yacht to begin the final day with the title virtually secured. The team also won the last race and completed the Trofeo Conde de Godó with a perfect score of four victories from four races. Javier Sabiote’s Ebury Sailing Team from Murcia finished second after the International Jury granted redress following a premature start in Saturday’s race. Third place went to L’Immens, owned by Uruguay’s Nicolás González.

In ORC 3, Italy’s Milkwave, owned by Alessandro Lotto, claimed overall victory after overtaking Martí Gelabert’s L’Oreig on the final day. Winning the last race allowed the Italian yacht to tie on points with the Catalan team and secure the championship on tie-break. Hydra Youth, skippered by Ramón Aixemeno, completed the podium with a young crew made up of sailors from the dinghy programme of Club Nàutic El Balís.

There were no changes in ORC 4-5, where the podium was formed by category winner Blue Star V of Ignacio Campo, followed by Tuppinamba of José Ramón de la Sierra and Ildemar IV of Gonzalo González.

In the ORC A2 division, Wild, sailed by Alicia Gardes and Andreu Pujol, added another victory in the final 9.1-nautical-mile coastal race to secure the championship. Bonadventure, sailed by Lluís Fargas and Món Cañellas, managed to retain second place overall by a single point ahead of Cometa, sailed by Lluís Blanchart, which completed the podium.

In Open A, Blue, owned by Diana Corominas, achieved a perfect score with three victories and claimed the title in convincing fashion. Duende 50 of Jacinto Rodríguez finished second, while Nomad Geseme of Jesús Turró took third. In Open B, there were also no changes, with victory going to Odysseus of Juan Meseguer, which likewise won all three races sailed. Completing the podium were Totil of Fernando Sales and Euroyopa Puse D’Aigo of Luis Penalva.

The prize-giving ceremony was attended by Jordi Puig, President of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona; Ana Godó, Board Member of Grupo Godó and Vice-President of the RCNB; Joaquín González Devesa, President of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation; Joan Balaguer, Vice-President of the Catalan Sailing Federation; César Thovar, Territorial Representative for Sport of the Government of Catalonia; Admiral Jaime Rodríguez-Toubes of the Spanish Navy; Emilio Aceña, Naval Commander of Barcelona; and Juan de Ros, founder of OOA.
