Barcelona, May 24, 2026 — The BCN Race Musto Offshore Godó OOA, the second event of the 53rd Trofeo de Vela Conde de Godó OOA organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, concluded this Saturday after a demanding edition marked by anticyclonic conditions, extremely light winds and an intense strategic battle throughout the race.

After departing from Barcelona on Friday afternoon, the fleet headed north towards Llosa de Palamós on an approximately 100-nautical-mile course before returning to Barcelona.

From the very beginning of the race, much of the fleet chose to sail close to the coastline in search of more pressure and stability in an especially complex and variable Mediterranean.

By Friday evening, ‘Aproperties Blue Carbon’, ‘HYDRA HM Hospitales’ and ‘Gratia’ were leading the fleet after a highly tactical race marked by transitions and constant wind changes.

As night fell, the wind progressively eased, creating long stretches of drifting conditions and even complete calms, forcing crews to carefully manage every manoeuvre and tactical decision to keep their boats moving.

During the night and into Saturday morning, the race was dominated by meteorological uncertainty and the constant calculation between the remaining miles and the time limits required to complete the course. Under these circumstances, several boats eventually decided to retire after assessing the forecast and realizing it would be extremely difficult to finish within their ORC time limit.

In the ORC Fully Crewed category, the German team aboard ‘Gratia’, an ICE 52 skippered by Peter Meier, claimed victory and were also the first boat to cross the finish line. The German crew completed the course at 16:53:23 after a total elapsed time of 25 hours, 23 minutes and 23 seconds.

In the ORC Double-Handed / Triple-Handed division, victory went to the DK46 ‘HYDRA HM Hospitales’, owned and helmed by Óscar Chaves together with Óscar Bachero. They crossed the finish line at 18:18:21 with a total elapsed time of 26 hours, 43 minutes and 21 seconds.

The conditions of this edition once again highlighted the importance of strategic offshore sailing and the crews’ ability to correctly interpret weather transitions and maintain boat speed in very light wind scenarios.

With the conclusion of the BCN Race Musto Offshore Godó OOA, the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona is already preparing the grand finale of the 53rd Trofeo de Vela Conde de Godó OOA, which will take place from May 28th to 31st with the traditional ORC, ORC Double-Handed and ORC Open classes.

The official prize-giving ceremony for the offshore race will be held this Sunday, May 24th, at 17:00 at the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona facilities.

The 53rd Trofeo de Vela Conde de Godó OOA is organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona under delegation from the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation and with the collaboration of the Catalan Sailing Federation. The event is supported by title sponsors Oxford Oil Additives and Musto, together with La Vanguardia, Barcelona City Council and the Government of Catalonia.
