HSN Sailing Team crowned champions of the 53rd Trofeo de Vela Conde de Godó OOA in the J70 class

The Real Club Náutico de Barcelona closes the first competition block with an intense and closely fought finale |

Barcelona, May 17, 2026 — The first competition block of the 53rd Trofeo de Vela Conde de Godó OOA, organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, concluded this Sunday in Barcelona waters with overall victory for “HSN Sailing Team” in the J70 class after a weekend marked by maximum equality and an extremely close battle among the leading contenders. The final day was raced under much more stable conditions than Saturday, with alternating sunshine and clouds and easterly winds that started around 95 degrees before gradually shifting to 85 degrees during the afternoon. The Race Committee successfully completed three of the four scheduled races on a racecourse of approximately 0.9 nautical miles. Wind intensity ranged between 10 and 14 knots during the opening races before easing to 7-8 knots for the final race of the championship. |

The opening race of the day was won by the German team “Diva”, helmed by Kai-Uwe Hollweg, followed by Javier Padrón’s “HSN Sailing Team” and “Noticia” helmed by Luis Martín Cabiedes, with the two teams crossing the finish line separated by only fractions of a second. |

In the second race, “Hang Ten”, helmed by Món Cañellas, claimed victory after an intense duel with “HSN Sailing Team”, which finished second, while Germany’s “Diva” secured another podium finish. The third and final race of the championship once again produced an extremely close finish, with victory going to “HSN Sailing Team”, ahead of “Noticia” and “Hang Ten”.

Throughout the day, the crews fought intensely for every position in a fleet where the differences were minimal and every manoeuvre proved decisive for the final standings. After nine races sailed over the three days of competition, the final podium of the 53rd Trofeo de Vela Conde de Godó OOA in the J70 class was formed by “HSN Sailing Team” in first place, followed by “Noticia” and Germany’s “Diva”. In addition to the Trofeo Conde de Godó OOA championship, Sunday’s racing also brought the Barcelona Spring Series to a close, the circuit organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona throughout the winter and spring season. The overall winner of the Barcelona Spring Series was “Noticia” helmed by Luis Martín Cabiedes, followed by “HSN Sailing Team” and “Hang Ten” helmed by Món Cañellas. The official prize-giving ceremony will take place this afternoon at 6:00 PM at the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona facilities. |

With the conclusion of this first J70 block, the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona is already preparing the second stage of the 53rd Trofeo de Vela Conde de Godó OOA, which will begin next Friday with the BCN Race Musto Offshore Godó OOA, the offshore race of the competition. The offshore event will bring together part of the Mediterranean offshore fleet on a medium-distance course starting and finishing in Barcelona, before the championship concludes from May 28th to 31st with the traditional ORC, ORC Double Handed and ORC Open classes. The 53rd Trofeo de Vela Conde de Godó OOA is organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona under delegation from the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation and with the collaboration of the Catalan Sailing Federation. The event is supported by title sponsor Oxford Oil Additives together with La Vanguardia, Barcelona City Council and the Government of Catalonia. Collaborators include Mapfre, Musto, De Antonio Yachts, Barcelona Capital Nàutica, Bgreenly, Veri, Royal Bliss, Estrella Damm, Isdin and Gramona. |
