Barcelona, May 16, 2026 — The second day of racing at the 53rd Trofeo de Vela Conde de Godó OOA for the J70 class was marked by extremely variable weather conditions, forcing the Race Committee to work intensively to complete the scheduled programme. The day began in Barcelona under sunny skies with easterly winds of around 8 knots, allowing the first race to be sailed in relatively stable conditions. However, as the afternoon progressed, the wind gradually shifted to the south and conditions became increasingly complicated, with constant changes in both wind direction and intensity. Despite the demanding weather conditions, the Race Committee successfully completed the four scheduled races of the day, with wind speeds ranging from 3.5 to 12 knots and numerous wind shifts across the racecourse. |

In the second race, Austria’s “Phantom 7”, helmed by Thomas Müller-Uri, dominated a very close battle in which Germany’s “Diva”, led by Kai-Uwe Hollweg, and “HSN Sailing Team” fought intensely for the leading positions until the finish. |

We cannot relax and we need to stay fully focused.” The final outcome of the championship remains completely open heading into Sunday’s decisive final day, with four more races scheduled. Sunday’s racing will also conclude the Barcelona Spring Series, currently led by “Noticia” with 44 points, followed by “HSN Sailing Team” with 60 points and “Hang Ten”, helmed by Món Cañellas, with 62 points. |
