The Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy, organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, was one of the main highlights at the BCN Global Sports forum, recently held at the Real Club de Polo. The event brought together the leaders of major international sporting events held in the city.
Jordi Puig, president of the RCNB, emphasized the impact and legacy of the sailing trophy, which this year celebrated its 52nd edition with great success in both participation and organization. “The America’s Cup helped shine a spotlight on our sport, and that has boosted participation and interest in sailing, especially among young people. We have the sea, and that gives us an advantage that many European cities don’t have. The Barcelona brand and the Conde de Godó Trophy allow us to grow stronger,” Puig stated.
The forum, driven by the CSIO Barcelona, served to reflect on the challenges of sport in the city and the need for close collaboration between organizations and public administrations. Alongside the Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy, representatives from the Conde de Godó Tennis Trophy (RCT Barcelona 1899), the Barcelona Marathon and Half Marathon (RPM Sports), the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (F1) and the Motorcycling World Championship (Dorna Sports) were also present.
All participants agreed that Barcelona’s sports model must continue to pursue organizational excellence, professionalization, and teamwork to face increasing international competition. In this context, the Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy is a clear example of tradition, adaptability, and international impact.
